Apollo Hospitals Bangalore, in association with the Apollo Hospitals Information Centre and Tumaini Sickle cell organization organized medical camp in Kisumu on 19th June 2025.During the medical camp, Dr. Neema Bhat, Senior Adult and Bone Marrow Transplant Specialist from Apollo Hospitals, Bangalore, provided her expertise in medical consultations and advanced treatment including role of Bone marrow in treating different blood cancers, blood disorders and other bone marrow diseases. The medical medical camp was attended by a large number Patients and medical personnel.

Dr. Neema Bhat utilizes bone marrow transplants (BMTs) to treat blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma, blood disorders such as thalassemia, and other bone marrow diseases by replacing diseased marrow with healthy stem cells to restore healthy blood cell production. Her role involves leading successful allogenic and autologous transplants, directing Thalassemia Transplant Programs, and overseeing complex pediatric oncology and hematology cases, focusing on patient-centric care for conditions affecting children and adult.
Dr. Neema Bhat is a distinguished Pediatric Oncologist and Hematologist at Apollo Hospitals, Bangalore, with over eight years of extensive experience in her field. Her career exemplifies excellence, commitment, and innovation in patient care. She commenced her medical education with a Gold Medal in Physiology from Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar, and went on to earn her MD from Cooper University Hospital, New Jersey, USA. She further completed a Super Specialty Fellowship (FAAP) in Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation at Penn State Health, Pennsylvania, gaining advanced expertise in treating complex blood disorders and cancers.Dr. Bhat has received extensive training at Penn State Health, USA, in diagnosing and managing intricate hematological and pediatric oncological conditions, including Leukemias, Bone and Marrow Transplantation, Hematology, Pediatric Oncology, Immunodeficiency Disorders, and Pediatric Solid Tumors. She has successfully performed over 75 allogeneic and more than 30 autologous bone marrow transplants and currently serves as the Director of one of India’s leading Thalassemia Transplant Program.
